Located in a rainforest, one of the world’s wettest ecosystems, the Glamping CABINs have to adapt to the main characteristics of tropical rainforest biome: very high annual rainfall, high average temperatures, nutrient-poor soil, and high levels of biodiversity.Shaped like a “pin”, these Glamping CABINs are to minimize ecological impact by reducing the footprint, made possible by its pin foundation which doesn’t require much excavation. Being a temporary construction, it’s prefab design to be transported by helicopter containers and installed on site. Materials consists of eco-friendly OSB boards that resist rain water, and biodegradable plastic panels for panoramic view windows. Each Glamping CABIN has a floor area of 27 m2: mini kitchen counter, sleeping area and a semi-outdoor bathroom. By learning from the “layers” of the rainforest, multiple cascading Glamping CABINs together form a complex consisted of “the upper canopy” for rainwater collection, the residence area, and the communal area under canopies on the forest floor. By integrating rainwater harvesting system and the human waste composting technology, the Glamping CABINs becomes a “mini-rainforest”.
